Living Together in Difference
Authority, Responsibility, and Ethical Imagination
A conference of the New York Center for the Study of Groups, Organizations, and Social Systems, directed by Dr Mónica Velarde Lazarte. Participants form a temporary learning cooperative to study the conditions under which ethical imagination may be found or lost, and how authority, responsibility, sponsorship, difference and interdependence shape our responses to contemporary dilemmas. A collaborative art installation brings dilemmas from participants’ organisational, community and wider social environments into the conference.
Further event details
Early-bird registration closes on 30 November 2026 ($750); registration closes on 10 January 2027. The brochure includes other fees, scholarship information and practical details. Accommodation and meals are not included.

16 November · 17 December 2026
20 January · 22 February · 16 March 2027
The Territory · One hour per encounter
What might our dreams reveal about the world we share? Bring night dreams and the associations they evoke—images, memories, feelings and bodily sensations—to a shared inquiry into El Niño and our changing climate.
An international team of hosts will be convened by Dr Mónica Velarde Lazarte and Lic. Viera Stenning.
Lic. Viera Stenning is a psychologist, psychoanalytic psychotherapist and Social Dreaming host. She is a Group Relations consultant working with individuals, groups and organisations to explore human dynamics and relationships.
Dreaming for a cause. As your contribution, support a local charity helping people affected by El Niño—through a donation or by offering your skills and time.
